1. Wall-E

I love this little robot! Last weekend we went to see this and Kung Fu Panda (this one is pretty good to by the way!) at the Drive-in and I really liked this movie. This is the first Pixar film that I’ve seen that I didn’t see any trailers before I got to the theater so I really went in without any preconceived ideas. The message that we need to clean up our planet before we lose it is there while still telling the story of a little robot that has found a new purpose in life.
2. Hancock
This was a good movie to watch Thursday evening. We had rain at the drive-in but we still enjoyed the movie. Will Smith plays a “disgruntled” superhero who is always angry and just really doesn’t know why and doesn’t discover why or his past until he meets Jason Bateman’s character.
3. Get Smart
I love a good Steve Carell movie (I’m pretty sure C is going to take away the remote if I put the tv on Evan Almighty one more time) and Get Smart is hilarious. Another six months and I can catch this one on the movie channels (if the DVD doesn’t get added to our collection when the time comes)

This past Sunday the Texas Governors Mansion went up in flames. According to news reports arson is suspected. C sent me these pictures earlier today and mentioned last night that he read that the mansion was under renovation so those artifacts that belong to Texas History weren’t being kept on site.
More on the story at the Dallas Morning News
Pictures of the damage can be seen at the Dallas Morning News also.
The fact that someone wanted to destroy a historical landmark that belongs to the people of Texas is beyond heartbreaking. I still wonder what was lost to history when the hurricanes came through Louisiana and other states in 2005. What building’s and people’s histories were lost to the rushing waters.

At the end of February and around the beginning of March Tiger developed an inflammation around the joint above her front right paw that we thought was a case of traumatic arthritis because she had injured her foot jumping so we kept an eye on it and I added some glucosamine to her diet to see if would help the swelling go down. It originally did but then it came back a few weeks later. She was acting herself up until the middle of April when she suddenly stopped eating and we got concerned. She had developed a 104 degree temperature and had started losing weight. She is a little cat to begin with so to drop four pounds is pretty noticeable.
I took her to the vet and after looking at her and getting an Xray of the area she determined it was probably a soft tissue tumor or a bacterial infection. The Xray confirmed it was just in the soft tissue areas and hadn’t gotten into the bone so we still should be able to try to get rid of Tiger’s growth without surgery or amputation. The vet actually told me those options weren’t really viable since Tiger is an older cat (she turned 13 this year) and she was afraid that drastic an option would cause a drastic decline in Tigers quality of life. She put her on two antibiotics, Amoxid and Baytril, and Prednisone for the arthritis in the area to help with any initial pain. I started Tiger’s antibiotics that night and we’ve been working on getting her to eat ever since. She finished the first round this past Wednesday so I took her back to the vet and the leg does look a lot better at the moment so she kept her on the Baytril for now and said to bring her back if there is a change, good or bad, to reassess the situation.
I’ve read all of my natural cat books and anything and everything I can get my hands on from around the internet and right now Tiger’s current course of treatment is to continue her antibiotic, feed her a high quality diet that includes canned food, deli meat (she seems to eat the turkey without any problems and right now if she eats it we are trying to feed her so she gets as much nutrients in her a s possible), and raw foods such as chicken legs and a few recipes from my cat care books. I brought home syringes so I could be sure she gets enough water which seems to help with making her hungry so she’ll eat.
I figure if Casper can beat his cancer then with a lot of effort and attention Tiger can beat her tumor.

So what have I been up to the last month?
My grandfather passed away the 20th of April from pneumonia. I still can’t believe I’ll never see him again when we go to visit family in the area.
We found out Tiger has a soft tissue tumor on her right leg (more on that in tomorrow’s post)
Went to the drive-in and saw Ironman (love Robert Downey Jr.!
) and Drillbit Taylor (what can I say I’m also a Owen Wilson type of gal), Forgetting Sarah Marshall (you won’t ever look at Marshall on How I Met Your Mother the same again!)
I suddenly have this unusual obsession with wanting to see the entire Joan of Arcadia series since the first season started airing Thursday morning.

Well I either messed the site up or it had a problem so I am going to start from scratch. I think I have the old site fixed in another folder but the idea of starting with a clean database without all the extra plugins and old files appeals to me right now. My archives will return over the next month or two.
I have made a few decisions though. I won’t be bringing back my 101 in 1001 days list because the end date is July of this year but I do plan to do an accomplishment post in August and I will decide then if I want to start a new list or wait for the new year. I dropped the 366 project because I only did about a week and I’ve been avoiding my camera ever since I made the decision to start the project. I may restart in the future so no worries that I’ve completely stopped trying to swamp myself with to many projects.
