Tile Project Update:One Step Closer to being Finished!

Slowly working my way across the bathroom
Sudden burst of energy hit me last night so I decided to tackle more of the tile in the bathroom.

Snickers..Tile Update Supervisor!
Halfway through the process I realized I had supervision. Snickers was on C’s shower bench and Tiger (who was being camera shy) was in C’s vanity area watching intently. Matter of fact Snickers tried to help at one point.

Done..until Sunday!
Finished until Sunday because I need to pick up floor cleaner, primer, some concrete to fill in the holes, and tiles for the hallway. The red dot in the middle of the floor is one of Miss “Throw Me a Bottlecap” Snickers bottlecaps that she decided would be a blast to play with at midnight once she accepted the fact that the floor wasn’t going to eat her up.
House Cleaning and Tiger Impressions
Well this evening was productive! C’s work had a cookout so I was able to come straight home after work this evening. I stopped at Fazoli’s and picked up some baked spaghetti for dinner since I had every intention of cleaning up a little bit around the house this evening. I’m happy to say our bathroom is spotless and vaccumed and the cats boxes have been cleaned and washed. While I was cleaning I had the usual four legged help that accompanies most things I do around the house. I snapped this picture of Tiger real quick while I was in my vanity area. My first thought was the scene from The Shining with the kid on the bike rides up the hallway and sees the two girls. Tiger ’s missing her twin for this to work but the face was perfect.

I know it’s a really crappy photo because the flash went off and it shouldn’t have but I still think it works.
Since May Sweeps is pretty much over and the Upfronts for 2006/2007 have been announced I figured it was time to clean up around here. The place was beginning to really need some Spring Cleaning.
Abigail and the B-A-T-H

Abigail and the Bath!
Two guesses what this face means! One it means my 11 year old calico is 100% pissed because she just got a bath! Bath, B-A-T-H is a really bad word and spelling in our house over the past decade. Though you couldn’t tell by the above look of distain (which may be also a little bit of a “you got the camera out too!How dare you!”) all four of our cats only get one to two baths each year but you’d think we made thier lives miserable by giving them a bath every month or something!
My dear calico rated a bath this evening because she seems to be having some sort of urinary problem. She’s always been the one cat in the house we have to remind what the litter box is for but the last couple of days she’s been behaving a little off and she seems to have got a lot of urine in her hair around her tail and lets just say that wasn’t helping the litter box problem. C wonders if she may have a little bit of a urinary tract infection (do cats get those?) so we may do what we did for Tiger a while back when we thought she had a similiar problem and was behaving pretty much the same as the calico has and we’ll put her on canned food for the next week in the morning and at night and see if the extra protein and some extra water might help the situation if it doesn’t we’ll call the vet and see what’s up.
Mice, Cats, and a To Do List update
Mouse Update: Well I’d like to say that I had good news and we were completely mice-free, which technically we are, but we have one lone mouse that we keep occasionally hearing in the walls that we figure must be coming in from our neighbors side of the duplex. His one problem is the four goofballs are now aware of him so it would be a bad call on his little mouse part to attempt to find his way into the apartment now. Procrastionating as usual we still need to caulk the areas where we put the steel wool but we plan to take care of that this week or until I finally stop saying we plan to and we did!
ToDo list Update: I’m happy to report I have improved my credit enough I was approved for a loan to help me take the Tier 1 Premier course at M-Tec so that means I crossed off both #31 and #49 this week. I know my credit’s not completely improved yet but I managed to get approved and paying on my loan on time works toward that goal. So now I just wait for the box so I can begin my classes.
Goofball Cats Update: C and I are kind of worried about Snickers because she’s acting like she sprained or pulled a muscle in her back or back legs. She’s not limping or anything but when you pet her she grumbles if you pet near her tail or pick her up. We’re going to watch her carefully over the next week and make sure she doesn’t show any other signs or see if she improves. If she doesn’t we’re gonna have to call the vet to come look at her. It turns out Samantha is our little mouse hunter. If you hear a mouse in the walls Samantha is now somewhere nearby waiting to pounce. Abigail is getting really lazy because we’ve had a few accidents due to she didn’t want to go to the catbox in the back. I’m thinking we’re gonna need to get her lazy little self up and moving in the evenings while we are home so she will lose a little of that weight and stop being so lazy. Tiger is just Tiger this past week..playing, sleeping, and being our head of the four goofballs.
The server going down last week reminded me I really needed to run a current backup so I’m off to do that for a full-site backup and a backup of the blog.

Mice Tales
Well I’d like to report that New Years Day was spent quietly relaxing in my home figuring out what needed to be done today so C and I could go to work tomorrow..which would be half true until around 9:30 p.m. last night. I will admit most of the day was spent inside due to high winds and some awful dust storms doing the usual cleaning and planning that occurs on Sunday. Throughout the day yesterday, I kept having to close the cabinet under the sink more then usual and didn’t think much about it because Snickers likes to open and close doors and drawers. So when I finally got the plastic container I normally keep their food in and took out a few cans of canned food (it was a holiday and they are guaranteed canned food on the holidays!) to feed them last night I decided I’d combine some of the old food into the foodbin after I got their dishes ready. Well the four goofy cats started eating and I picked up one of the old bags of food (I usually toss them when I get a new bag but every so often they don’t make it out the door just yet) and dumped it in the plastic container (you know the type like PET FOOD STORAGE BIN MEDIUM) no problem some food dropped into the container so I picked up the larger bag to pour any leftover crumbs into the bin and out not only came the little bit of catfood left in the bag but two mice! So I did the expected jumped, screamed, closed the lid on the both of them and scared one husband and four cats who were eating and not paying me any mind. Up until now I’d tell you I don’t know how I feel about mice but being taken by surprise like that..I’m not so fond of them and I really don’t want them in my house.
So now we have several of the D-con traps set up under the kitchen sink, I’m currently sanitizing the kitchen counters and we picked up two double packs of the Victor® Sonic PestChaser® and are going to be plugging the hole under the sink with steel wool this evening. Hopefully this is the first and last incident because our neighbors on the other side of the duplex are also using some of the ultrasonic pest control in their different rooms so since there was more activity in the walls today we wonder if it was working throught the AC/Heater vents and maybe little mice will find better places to live. Later this week I’m hitting Walmart, Target, Linens-N-Things, or Bed,Bath, and beyond for containers for any food in the kitchen like chips, cereal, or any grains just to be on the safe side.
The first thing I learned in 2006..I really don’t care for mice!
Murphy’s Law
Well it looks like Murphy’s law saw me coming! We are suppose to have rain all this week which puts a damper on my walking but I’m going to try to compensate by doing a few WATP (Leslie Sansone – Walk Away the Pounds – Super Fat Burning – 3 Miles) Dvd’s. Make matters worse I seem to have caught a stomach bug over the weekend and so I’m home sick today..good for me today and not so good for me tomorrow when I go back to work and have to deal with 4 large dictionary size stacks of paper.
The girls loved having me home today. I’ve had at least 2 cats next to me at all times. Right now Tiger is at the end of the bed snoring and Samantha is sleeping at the end of my feet. Snickers seems to have decided I’ll live and has gone off to explore, sleep, or get into things quietly. I really need to edit this post and add a pic C took yesterday of Abigail sleeping in front of my laptop. Caption has got to read ” I really don’t see what Mom sees in this thing”
I’ve never really followed through with the blog/journal/diary thing in the past whether on paper or online (all my livejournal posts seem to be goofy quizzes you find online) so forget New Years Resolutions I’m going to try a few Half a Year Resolutions.
1. My Half-A-Year Resolutions and Why: Exercise daily by walking and strength training. Drink more water and eat healthier Why: I want to be healther and if I’m healthier then I have less of a chance of developing the various health problems in my family.
2. Post daily whether it is my exercise/diet progress or just how everything went that day. Why: I’d like to see my progress at the end of the year..who knows what direction this journal will go at that time.
