Successful day

I spent most of the morning working on school work and the rest of the afternoon playing with Fred and the girls. Dinner was easy this evening. Since it was an awesome 65 degrees today we had tacos for dinner. I really like tacos that are made at home since the ones we get when [...]

the resident chowhound

Have you met our 7 month old basset hound? He loves walks, playing outside, harassing the cats (Snickers especially), and eating anything he can talk you out of on any given day.

Not a bad day at all..

One day down, three to go! Today wasn’t really that bad just long when the past two weeks have been spent with a very energetic 7 month old basset, three cats who love the extra attention, and my husband watching movies, playing outside in the snow, sleeping in, and just flat out relaxing.
We had [...]

And so it begins..

My first full week back to work after being on vacation since December 22nd. I spent most of today watching movies and getting everything ready for tomorrow. Dishes are washed, laundry is about to go in the washer, and I know where my scrubs are for in the morning. Rather then worry about working cooking [...]

Time to expand my cooking abilities

I’ve spent the better part of 2009 reading both cooking and health blogs. During that time I realized that I didn’t have the equipment to try a lot of the recipes that appealed to me. Chris took matters into his own hands this Christmas and updated my cookware and part of my goal for January [...]

Chicken and Dumplings

One of my favorite dishes growing up was my Grandmother’s Chicken and Dumplings. This recipe has evolved since I got married into a combination of that recipe and my father-in-law’s recipe that C loves so much. C likes it more of a soup variety and I like it when the sauce is a little thicker [...]

Salisbury Steak with Gravy

I love to cook but I never have the time so I have had a subscription to Simple & Delicious (formerly Quick Cooking) for several years. The past year or so a lot of the recipes really haven’t been anything C and I would eat but I discovered this one in March of 2006 and [...]

Pumpkin Pie

This originally came from the usa weekend insert in the Sunday paper back in 2001. I usually follow the recipe pretty closely but I have added a full can of evaporated milk a few times, added or didn’t add enough spices, and a couple of other goofs but it always comes out tasting really good!
This [...]
